is there a way to duplicate assignments to other classes? Canvas won't let me in to the new special way.

The BEST way to do this is to share the assignment via Commons: How do I share a resource to Commons?  How do I share a course to Commons? 

Both of these are the options I use.

You also have the option of copying your course:

However, if you're doing one-off assignments individually, Commons may be your best bet.

 @ccory , by "new special way" are you referring to Canvas Release: Direct Share? That feature needs to be enabled as a Feature Option at the account level by the local admin, so if you don't see the Copy To link in your assignments, please reach out to the admin for additional guidance.
