[ARCHIVED] how to auto-assign points to watching a video?

I assign short educational videos to watch.

These are now in-lieu of 'in-class participation points', so i'd like to assign automatically points to everyone who watches the videos. How do I do that when I set up the assignment?

I have points assigned

I have no submission

I have no rubric (just watching it seems fine).

It shows up in tehgradebook as an assignment but when student watch the videos, the grade remains unallocated?

Hi,  @irina_overeem  Welcome to the Community! The way that assignment is set up Canvas still expects you to enter a grade. There are a few ways I can think of to accomplish what you are trying to do though.

1) Set the default grade to give everyone points for the assignment: How do I set a default grade for an assignment in the Gradebook?

2) Create a quiz. Place the video within a True/False question in the quiz. Assign the desired points to the question. When the students select "True" for "Did you watch this video?" they will automatically receive full points for the quiz with the video in it.

3) Create a Canvas Studio Quiz, How do I create a Canvas Studio video quiz in a course?

Hopefully, folks will chime in if they see this and can think of another way of doing it.
