Most of the time, the answer is no. Any message that you send to the instructor is visible only to you and the instructor. Your student or any other observer (family member, coach, counselor, etc) can see that interaction.
If the instructor creates a group message in the Inbox, a reply acts as a reply all. That means that anyone that was included in the message will see the threaded responses. If the message is sent directly to you, it again is private.
