[ARCHIVED] please, please please can you put is a way to manage notifications from different subjects

Because I am involved in 6 subjects (only this semester, it will get bigger next semester) I get upwards of 100 notification emails a a day. I need to have notifications on for some subjects but not the others - but there is no option to fix this. It is ridiculous.

Good morning,  @salol  Welcome to the Canvas Community.  Thank you for posting your question.  I can understand your frustration, but I have some awesome news for you...  this is coming later this month!  I am not sure if you regularly follow the Canvas Release Notes space here in the Community (you really should...because that's where you'll find all the updates and new features that Canvas works on each month), but in the Canvas Release Notes (2020-04-18), you'll want to check out the section on "Mute Notifications by Course".  I hope this will be of help to you, Lauren.  Please let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!

I'm having this same issue. Chris Hofer, you said we would soon be able to have the ability to mute notifications by course, but can we simply limit how often we're notified per course? I am a teacher who wants to receive immediately notifications from my own students in those courses. I am also a student in a course with other teachers and I'm getting 100 email notifications per day from other teachers who are commenting about things irrelevant to me. I would love to get a daily summary from that course but immediate ones from my own students. I'm new to Canvas and I can't believe this isn't something that would have already been taken care of long ago.

I do not work for Instructure, so I cannot say for certain when we might be able to limit how often we are notified per course.  Per the Canvas Release Notes (2020-04-18), it appears that the "Mute Notifications by Course" is just a toggle switch that you can turn on/off once you log in to your course.  So, it would turn on/off all notifications for that course you're currently logged into.  (Note: You can always sign in to your school's "beta" environment to see what this looks like: How do I access the Canvas beta environment as an instructor?‌.)
