Is anyone else experiencing or seeing this error in their quiz results:
This question was imported from an external source. It was a '' question, which is not supported in this quiz tool.
The error message will replace the quiz question. We have several teachers have this just appear (after the exam was completed and due date passed). It changes the students' grades as well.
We have several courses and about a dozen students

Hi everyone,
The engineers have pushed the fix to production. If you still see anything strange please let our support team know. Thanks!

I haven't seen this before. Do you know if these faculty might have been using test banks from certain publishers or all uploaded questions via Respondus?
Not that we have been able to determine (some of the teachers have been around for a while and the questions have been here just as long). And, the changes have all happened after the quizzes had closed and grades posted. We have a downloaded gradebook for one of the courses after the exam ended and shows the real score and a few days later the scores had changed and the error appeared. It does not impact all students in the course.
This definitely sounds like a bug. Have you filed a help ticket for this? If not, that would be my recommendation.
I have filled a ticket (#1541685), but it's been placed on hold and our faculty members who were impacted by this in the Spring semester and are now teaching in the Summer semester want to know if these quizzes will work properly.
I was just wondering if there were others (institutions) so we could tie all our cases together.
Ah, I see. That is very frustrating. Hopefully if someone else is having a similar problem they will see your post. Have you thought about moving it over to the Canvas Admins group? It might get more visibility/response over there.
Oh, good idea. Thank you.
I've seen that error when I've imported questions from Respondus or from another VLE, but the message appears as soon as I view the quiz for the first time. I've never had it suddenly appear after the quiz is already in use.
Just a thought - has a course teacher attempted to import course content (via "Settings" > "Import content into this course") after the quizzes were originally created? Perhaps something has been imported by that method and overwritten existing questions.
So, this happened after students had taken the exam and received a score. In some cases the final exam for the semester. We've been lucky, that for the most part, these instructors had already imported (to our SIS) their final grades when the errors started to occur so the wrong grades were not reported.
We actually thought this might be related to the "quiz submissions" issue that occurred on April 30th/May 1st and the fixes that were pushed to try and resolve it.
To anyone else who is having this issue. I've been told that a possible fix is in QA and might be pushed overnight. Will update. ![]()
Latest Update (from Support Panda) on this issue (Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 8:17 PM ET):
"The fix our engineers have put together for this issue is in it's final stages of testing before being deployed. We will provide an update on the outcomes of this testing tomorrow (Friday, May 22)."
It has been mentioned that this issue could have possibly been caused by the same issue that impacted Quizzes on April 30th (the “quiz submission events” table issue). More information to follow as I get it.
Thanks for the update!
Looks like the engineers are working on pushing code to a small production server for testing right now. If all goes well it should be out to all prod servers sometime this afternoon.

Yes, this fix looks to have returned all the questions and the student grades to the state they were before the original issue occurred.
Yay!!
