[ARCHIVED] "Missing/Late" Labels in Gradebook Woes

Each of the following questions could lead to teacher efficiencies, as well as less likelihood of improper labeling in regards to grade posting:

1. It would be great if when a grade is entered in a gradebook that the "missing" label of pink (default color) would automatically be removed once something is inputted into the cell instead of the instructor needing to do 4 more clicks to remove the label. Is this possible through some setting? (We do see the benefit of using the labels for our students)
2. It would be awesome if a teacher could manually type in a code (M=Missing or E=Excused) and choose the label for Late if an assignment is turned in and a grade needs to be recorded. This would remove the 4 extra steps when manually entering these designations in the gradebook. Is this a possibility?

Hi Julie!  I like your ideas!  I am sure this would be considered a feature request and you would have to formally create that to get it moving into the voting process.  Here is a document that shows you how to do that!  https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-14904

Has this problem gotten a solution yet? I came here because it's a really long and tedious process to take the "missing" label off of an assignment. It's not bad for one assignment, but it's not one assignment -- it's 50 a week. It would be much better if Canvas just took off the missing label once a score was entered -- because if there is a score, it's obviously not missing anymore!

Thanks Chris, I did see this link but we see the benefit in using the

missing and late because we also use AspireEDU dropout detective with

Canvas and these labels give us valuable feedback when looking for patterns

with struggling students. I appreciate you pointing it out though!
