Hi @g_xiong5902 Welcome to the Canvas Community. Depending on the assignment requirements, there is an overview of uploading a media file as part of an assignment here: How do I submit a media file as an assignment submission? If, however, you also are asked to record it, then there a few ways to handle it, which that page linked also mentions. There is more specific information on recording/uploading something here: How do I record a video using the Rich Content Editor as a student? and https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10623-4212710346 I highly recommend using the HTML 5-compliant Firefox or Chrome browsers if doing a recording.
HOWEVER, this implies using Canvas as the "recorder." It is possible your institution uses another software package that is embedded within Canvas to record videos, such as Panopto or Kaltura. If this is the case, you may want to consult further with your instructor or with your institution's technical support.
I hope this helps a bit, Ger. Good luck with your studies!
