Active courses only?

Has anyone found a good way to be able to view only active courses? We are struggling with massive course listings and cross-listed sections. We would like to be able to conclude the courses that have the section cross-listed, get them out of our list of active courses.

 @sbeck1 ​, I keep thinking I have an answer to offer, and then realizing I'm not certain what you're trying to do. Are you trying to clean up empty course shells left behind after the section has been cross-listed into another shell? And when you say "our list of active courses", do you mean that you, as an admin, no longer want them to appear in the overall list of courses in the account and/or show up in searches?

We began moving to Canvas this past summer. I have been typing in course numbers numerous times a day (too numerous to count, as in sure you experience also). It never fails that I forget to select the term filter. The summer section always seems to pull up first, I see that it is published, and continue to the course. After I'm in the course, I realize I've selected the wrong one, and have to start over. I wish there was a way that only the active courses (not concluded, and published) courses would show up first. Maybe a checkbox to be able to see the concluded courses? Am I the only one this would be useful for?

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I've created some Firefox keyword searches to do various searches in Canvas. Here's one whose keyword is "ccc" (for "Canvas course current"):

https://samuelmerritt.instructure.com/accounts/81827/courses?enrollment_term_id=10398&course[name]=%...

Typing "ccc n108" in the Firefox address bar lists courses matching "n108" for the current term only. When a new term arrives, I update the term ID in the URL.

I wonder if I could edit my Chrome custom search (that lets me launch a people or course search from the address bar) to include the term. :smileyshocked:

And I can!!!! I've been LOVING my Chrome custom search engine for people and courses, but didn't even think to add a filter. So many extra clicks saved. Thanks!!!
