Assign quizzes to groups/subgroups

At the moment there is no easy way to assign a quiz to specific groups (within a course/section) in Canvas. The only way to assign the task to specific groups is to select each individual/student seperately. However, it is possible to send messages to specific groups through the messaging service. Very handy!

I would like to make a suggestion: to make this work in the quiz section as well.

You can assign the quiz/assignment to just a section of students.

Someone in the community once explained that Groups are for collaboration and Sections for differentiation. I've used the section trick in Canvas very successfully to allow students just to see the assignments for them even in a course where there are more assignments if you're taking the course for more credits. What a whiz!

Anne (below) is correct. This does not help us in our particular situation. At my workplace - the sections are not to be tampered with too much unfortunately. As described in my original post - groups and subgroups within a section is possible, and messaging to individual subgroups is possible! - But it is not possible to assign quizzes to these groups.

I think that Shar's answer will not work for everyone.  I cannot create a section within a course.  Perhaps this is one of the features that is institutionally controlled?  Can the institution opt out of giving instructors the ability to create sections?  I think Peter's original suggestion stands.  I too would like to be able to assign a quiz to a student group.  I looked at the table of contents for the New Quizzes guide and did not see groups mentioned.  Please, add this option to the quizzing feature!
