How do I set it up where the students can answer and return it to me?

Hello there, @ginathomison ...

Could you please provide a little bit more information on the kind of assignment you'd like to set up for your students?  Are you wanting them to answer quiz/exam questions (multiple choice, true/false, etc.)?  Or, are you wanting them to answer a question based on a scenario, for example, that you provide to them?  Or, as another example, are they to complete a project of some kind and answer a question or two along the way?  As you can tell, this is just a small example of possibilities, but we'll need more information from you about what your assignment looks like and what the expectation is from your students.  This will help Community members better to be able to provide you with the best tools to use when creating your assignment details in Canvas.

I’m looking for written answers with a bunch of possibilities. Like I ask them to give me the name of a famous actor/actress. Then I ask where are from city/state/country. Like that. Does that help?

I'm not completely sure I understand the assignment you've described.  Do you think a quiz might work where you ask your questions one by one in an essay type question (even though the responses might be quite short)?  How do I create an Essay quiz question? - Instructure Community  Essay question types do not have a "correct" answer like a multiple choice or true/false question would, so you would have to do some manual grading for each quiz submission from you students.

Or, are you wanting your students to submit one answer to you...then you review it with possible feedback...then students submit another response to you...then you submit feedback...etc.?

If you could provide a bit more detail, that would be great...thank you!
