Hi
I was wondering. We are working with improvement projects and are using Canvas now, but we don't have a good platform to work with spreadsheet data yet. So we would like to know whether Canvas has the possibility of uploading spreadsheet data (fx generated in Excel) and doing statistical analyses, specifically Statistical Proces Control (SPC) - runcharts and control charts?
Thanking you in advance!
Best Arjen Stoop
Solved! Go to Solution.
@aps ,
Canvas is not the solution you are looking for.
Canvas is a learning management system. It has some statistical analysis related to activity within the system -- mostly related to student analytics or performance on quizzes.
Canvas is not statistics software and has no statistical capability to analyze that was not generated within Canvas. There is no import functionality for numeric data because Canvas is not that type of software. You can upload Excel workbooks to Canvas, the most it will do is display the contents as a PDF or allow people to download the file. It does not understand any of the formulas that are entered into Excel and can do no analysis with what is inside the Excel file.
There are many statistics programs out there that do statistical analysis. The ones I frequently hear about (not intended to be a complete list) are R, SPSS, SAS, Minitab, and Stata. Of those, R is open source. An internet search will turn up other options.
Hi @aps Welcome to the Canvas Community.
Microsoft and Google docs can all be used within Canvas.
They can be used collaboratively too - which I love:
Sing out if you need a hand.
Thanks Bobby
Please read my specific question about SPC analysis.
Thank you

Hi Arjen
Hmmm, that's a wee bit more than I know about. I will look into that.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful at the moment.

Dear James
Thank you!
For improvement work, it could have been great to have the solution on one platform, instead of the canvas platform on the one hand, and a statistical package on the other.
Regards, Arjen
