Wondering if I make a person an observer, for the purposes of access to the class, but not wanting them to have the ability to interact with/alter the content, Do I have to have them observing someone? In other words, Can an OBSERVER see the course without being linked to anyone?

Hi Greg,
An Observer can see most class content even if they are not observing anyone. They will not be able to participate in discussions or submit quizzes or assignments, but they will be able to access most course content.

Exactly! Where I work, colleagues are allowed to observe each other, and it's nice to provide the "fly over" experience without worrying about grade details, settings, etc. I've even had some of my level 1 students ask to observe level 2 or 3 ...just to see what their friends are learning. (Talk about intrinsic motivation!)
