Hi! I'm new to Canvas, and when I created a Quiz (for the first time) it asked me to choose between Classic Quizzes or New Quizzes. I chose the Classic. Since then, all my quizzes are in the classic version, but my colleagues are in the new version. I've tried to change back, but under Settings-Quizzes- the New Quizzes is already turned ON but still only providing access to Classic Quizzes. How can I change this?

@amymyers , to confirm, when you navigate to the Quizzes tab and click on +Quiz, this modal no longer displays?
If that's the case, that is not expected behavior. Please ask Canvas Support to have a look at your course and environment to see why the modal is no longer popping up (How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor? provides general instructions, but your school might have defined a local support pathway for you to use).
Oh, my gosh, sorry. I looked a little harder and found the answer. If you're not being given the option, click on the three dots (Quiz options) in the quiz tab next to +Quiz and reset the quiz engine choice.
Hello, @amymyers Welcome to the Canvas Community! (You're going to want to edit that user name, by the way.
)
Classic and New Quizzes are two entirely separate tools, both of which can be used at the same time in the same course. Having New Quizzes enabled does not automatically transform classic quizzes into new quizzes. So once you've created a quiz as a classic quiz, it remains a classic quiz.
New Quizzes being turned on in the feature options section of the course means that you can create either a classic or a new quiz, as you saw when you first initiated the quiz creation process. If you would like to create another quiz using New Quizzes, select the New Quizzes option for that quiz.
Hope this helps.
It's not giving me the option to create in New Quizzes; it automatically goes to Classic.
The problem that I am having, is that it is not giving me the option to create in New Quizzes. It just automatically creates the quiz in the Classic mode.

That is correct. It gave me this option when I created my first Quiz, and it has never given me the option since. When I click on Quiz from the course navigation or when adding it to a module, it always opens to the classic quiz settings.
In that case, @amymyers , please ask support to help you out. You can provide a link to this conversation in the description field of the ticket so the agent can get an advance review of the issue.
Go to settings,
On the top, click on the "Feature Options" tab
On the "New Quizzes" click on the button on the right til it becomes green
You are done!!!
I have exactly the same problem. When I create a quiz, I no longer see the pop-up that asks me to choose between New and Classic; it just defaults to Classic. I've turned on the green checkmark by New Quizzes in Settings. I've tried logging out and logging back in, but the problem persists.
Has anyone discovered a solution for this? I've been number 99+ in the chat queue for quite a while already.
Hi, everyone! Unfortunately I don't have a solution to this (as I'm here looking for an answer as well), but would like to add that this is not unexpected behavior, as when you are given that popup to choose between the two, there is a checkbox for "remember my preference for this class". So, people that chose Classic back at some point in time and had it remember the preference are having this problem. Now that people are wanting to move into New Quizzes, the pop-up doesn't show because it has remembered this preference.
So I'm still looking for how a teacher can undo this preference.

Thanks for that solution, Jen! I had the same problem in reverse.
