I have students in all of my classes with IEPs, 504s, or are ELLs. I know I can assign work to individual students, that is not a mystery to me. As it is now, when I assign differentiated assessments I have to type each non-IEP/504/ELL student's name into the assignment. This is time consuming with large classes. What I would like to see in Canvas is a way to easily exclude students from particular assignments. Google Classroom & PowerSchool make this a simple task with the use of checkboxes to select which students will be assigned a particular assignment. This is what I and many other teachers would like to see to streamline the process.
Is there a way to do what I described in Canvas currently?
Could you create groups and assign work to groups instead of everyone or sections? I have not used groups, but it seems like it would work. Create a group for students with differentiated assessments.
That would work for Assignments but not Quizzes--can't make a quiz a group assignment.
I didn't know that, it's too bad.
Another thought, you could create sections for such students and then enroll them in your course by section. You may have to ask your IT folks to help with that.
This would create problems if you need Canvas to synchronize with another Student Information System (for example, Skyward)
