HEIC to JPEG & student plagiarism notation

*I teach Art and students are uploading images for grading that are in the .HEIC format. Will Canvas please included an update so that it opens the .HEIC files like .JPEG? At this moment I have to convert each student submission on a separate program to view to grade. If there is a way to do this already please let me know. Our district does not have the latest Canvas Update but will have in the Fall.

*Can Canvas run a program to scan all the essays/papers students submit within the same course from the same assignment/quiz or discussion? I am not looking for online website plagiarism just students copying each others work and posting it. A scanning of all the work submitted and some kind of notation stating its a duplicate with link to other copied paper. If this is also available please let me know. (I've had students submitting the same essay in different classes.)

I would like to answer your second question. There are a lot of third-party plagiarism tools that can be integrated into Canvas. Our software Unicheck is one of them. You can check students’ papers and assignments against each other with its help.

To use Unicheck in Canvas, you have to follow some guidelines.

First, you have to get to know whether your school or university is licensed to use Unicheck. 

Secondly, you have to get access to the Unicheck Admin account and integrate it into Canvas.

Thirdly, you have to enable submissions of all the papers to an educational library or database of your school/university. 

Unicheck checks assignments right away. The system checks the papers of your students against previously submitted and saved assignments in the library. The 1st submitted paper will not be checked against the second one. But the 2nd paper will be checked against the first one. This procedure will help you to find duplicate assignments.

There is also an option to check papers in bulk. Still, it is available outside LMSs, if you have access to a Unicheck standalone account.
