How do I change my display name?

When I go into settings and click on edit settings, it doesn't give me the option to change my display name. Is there a way for me to change it?

Hi  @melanie_wade  and welcome to the Community!  I am not sure if you are looking at this from the perspective of a teacher or student, so will include documentation for both (see How do I change the settings in my user account as an instructor? and How do I change the settings in my user account as a student?).  As the documents explain, your institution may not allow you to change this information.  At my school for example, the display name is standardized based what is in our student information system.  If you find that you are unable to make changes to this information, you might contact someone at your institution and see if there is a way you can request this is changed in the system.
