So, I'm a wicked noob to all of this. My wife is an instructional designer so she is killing it in Articulate 360...Really Rise 360, but she has never been the person who uploads it to LMS. So, now that she is doing volunteer work for my organization, we have to figure that out on our own. So here are a couple questions:
1. How do we create something that we, as the instructor, can pull up the answers to the students' essays and have them for our face to face conferences.
2. How do we export from Articulate and then get it to work in Canvas?
3. Articulate doesn't have essay type quizzes so is it possible to have articulate and also use Canvas Quizzes?
4. Are there questions I'm not asking that I should be?
Thank you.
Jason
1. How do we create something that we, as the instructor, can pull up the answers to the students' essays and have them for our face to face conferences.
You will have to use a Canvas quiz or assignment or discussion for this. Rise does not have essay type questions and even if it did, it would be difficult to pull up the answers.
2. How do we export from Articulate and then get it to work in Canvas?
Export from Articulate for LMS using SCORM. I haven't noticed that it matters which version of SCORM you use. Then add SCORM to your Canvas course menu and import the package. I've found using the "graded assignment" option works best.
3. Articulate doesn't have essay type quizzes so is it possible to have articulate and also use Canvas Quizzes?
Yes, you can use both. It's probably a better option anyway, as there are issues with passing back grades from Articulate quizzes to Canvas grades.
4. Are there questions I'm not asking that I should be?
Yes, you need to think about how you will integrate Canvas and Rise into an integrated course flow. Here are some Rise/Canvas courses I've created: https://osuextension.catalog.instructure.com/
Hi! We are also importing SCORM into Canvas. The import process is easy but Canvas doesn't seem to have any functionality to 'score' or know that the student actually completed the module. Am I missing something? Bottom line - you can use SCORM to teach a course (like as a supplemental resource) but you would NOT be able to create asynchronous courses in Canvas where the student's completion is automatically graded/noted and they receive a completion certificate or whatever (more like corporate training does)??? Thank you!
DeborahBergeron,
I create the kind of "self-paced" (not instructor-led) courses you describe here, so yes, it can be done. Canvas can track when students complete an Articulate SCORM assignment. You have to have the Articulate export settings right and import it as a graded assignment. You can use module requirements to track when everything is complete. You can see some examples at learn.extension.okstate.edu

Hello @JayFor you had a great question -- Question #3: Can you have an articulate 360 question and a Canvas question within one quiz and have it report all scores? @dljoyork replied that she recommends this.
My question is.. how? I've read a bit on the Articulate elearning heroes site (here) about SCORM reporting to Canvas and tracking individual question information (here). However, I cannot find a way to just add one question.
I'm assuming...
Would this work and also still translate the grade data (articulate & canvas questions) to the grade book? Thank you for any information you may have on this!
ColleenSmith123,
I don't know if it's possible to do what you describe, and that's not what I recommended. I said that you can use both Canvas quizzes and Articulate quizzes in a course, not in a single quiz. I generally don't use Articulate quizzes, because Canvas doesn't seem to track them well.
