Incorporate Hybrid Elements into a Face-to-Face Course General Biology 1

I'm looking for some ideas to inject some hybrid elements in a General Biology 1 course. The Subject Matter Expert I'm working with is teaching this for the first time and one of her goals is to make this a standardized course to be used in a hybrid capacity going forward.

Our success rate from best to worst are as follows from what I have been told by other stakeholders; (1)face-to-face, (2)online, and (3)hybrid. That being said, our success rate of both online and hybrid courses are very low.

Any ideas that you may have would be most appreciated.

For many years now our successful completion rate for hybrid course has averaged 7 percentage points above that for our traditional courses. We attribute this to the following............

• 24/7 access to learning materials,
• 24/7 access to learning activities,
• Many varied practice activities and assessments to reinforce learning, and
• Better use of f2f time. Less lecture, more demonstrations, Q&A, hands-on activities, and the like.

We are a tech college that prides itself on "hands-on", real-world  learning, and once our faculty understood that they could increase the hands-on time for their students by posting the knowledge-base content online, and their students came better prepared for the class time; then they embraced the concept of the flipped classroom.

Are you using any specific tools (LTI/other) to enhance student learning? Can you give any examples of successful assignments both for your hybrid course?

For the record, I teach fully online courses.

I am the weirdo in the bunch, and prefer to use just Canvas, for the most part, and nothing but Canvas. For my very few students who need more, I have used the Redirect tool to link them to some interactive practice sites, but almost none  of my students use them.

We have math courses using Hawkes, and some of our technical programs incorporate industry-specific tools, but most simply use Canvas to house their knowledge-base learning materials, and any traditional tests that they use. I should also note that most of our technical and professional programs employ  a combination of authentic and traditional assessments.

Thanks for responding - when I think a hybrid course it's usually referencing partially F2F and online components. As a rule (if there is one) hybrid has more successful results than fully online methods.

That has been the case at our school.
