In this remote teaching format, my institution will be auditing instructor Canvas hours to ensure that we are meeting our contractual student contact hours. I'd like to know what specific Canvas activities are tracked to derive at the hours that I see under the People navigation menu? My limited experimentation seems to indicate that certain activities such as quiz creations and grading do not increase those hours. What contributes to those hours then? pre-recorded Zoom videos? Zoom synchronous meetings? Discussion assignments? emails/announcements to individual students? emails/announcements to the class at large? teacherhours #studentcontacthours
Hi @dburbridge Thank You for your question. I've sometimes found that simply by having my course open my hours accumulate.
It's a tricky one to measure then. Especially when you are first starting out in this experience. naturally it will take longer to create content, encourage a community of learning, give excellent feedback, expect self reflection and self adjustment because of it. This will need to be a discussion to have with colleagues. Your suggestions will certainly add to the bigger picture.
