@crockwood , greetings! There are a number of things that might be going on here...
1. Are you using the new gradebook or old gradebook? If it's the old gradebook then that might be the issue. See more here - New Gradebook Resources
2. Do you have a large number of students or assignments? If so (and especially if it's the old gradebook) then that might be the issue.
3. Canvas has been a little laggy for us the last couple of days as well. I attribute it to it being the beginning of the semester/term for many schools. Canvas isn't reporting anything for today, but you can check here - Instructure Status
Overall I'd check back and if you're still having issues, then I'd contact Canvas Support to see if they can help. To do this, click on the Help link and "Report a Problem."
