New to API - Where to start?

Hi Canvas Admin Group!

I am new to API and trying to start simple, get some reports to run automatically. My CSM said this Group would be a good place to start looking for resources or coding.

If anyone has any starter resources or simple ways to start with using APIs and Canvas those would be greatly appreciated. We are a small grad school so there are limited resources so anything low budget or free would be even better.
