Roll Call Attendance

I was interested in finding a way for students to take their own attendance when they are in class. Is there an assignment setting we can create so the students have to log in at the beginning of class and it gives them 'credit' for attendance in roll call?

We are trying to find a way to require students to bring their devices to class and to stream line attendance. I know there are 'plug-ins' we can purchase that generate codes that the students must enter to count for attendance, but we are interested to see if there is anything we can purchase directly from CANVAS that does something similar.

You can look at the Roll Call Attendance tool in Canvas https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10725-67952720324 but this tool has to be enabled by your Canvas administrator and it is not something that the students can use to give them attendance credit automatically.  You would have to mark them as "present".
