I need to set a quiz with sub questions. For example, question 1 has one general description of the question and I want students to answer three different questions (e.g.Question A,B,C ) based on this description. Students need to answer question A,B,C by entering the text. I try to use question group and text but all didn't work out. Any suggestions about how do I set up this kind of questions?
Hi @spice_wang ,
I will admit Quizzes have never been my speciality as a technical person. However, I wanted to take the opportunity to share your question with the Instructional Designers group as there are some great minds in there that may be able to assist you.
Out of curiosity, and to help them when they have a look, are you using the traditional quizzes engine or Quizzes.Next?
Hope that helps!
Stuart
Hi Stuard,
Thanks for your email. I am using both the traditional quizzes and the Quizzes.Next, both didn’t work out well. I used the Text (without question) for the question introduction and essay type for the sub questions but I cannot change the title of the question which is distractive for students. For example, my Question 1A, 1B, and 1C are shown as Question 1, 2, 3…
I hope the Instructional Designer team would have better suggestions.
Cheers

Hi @spice_wang ,
Thanks for the extra information, that should help the Instructional Designers with the extra context. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Cheers,
Stuart
Hello Spice Wang,
I have done something similar using Question Groups:
Text Leader: Use the following prompt for the next 3 questions
Question Group: 3 questions that will get shuffled for each student.
The questions will automatically be numbered Question 1, Question 2, and so on in Canvas. So your best bet is to frame the questions with the Text (no question).
Happy New Year,
Cheers - Shar
Thank you very much for your reply Shar.
I used Text (without question) for the QUESTION (1,2.3…) description for the group but still have to use Essay type for the Question 1a, 1b, IC, 2a, 2b…. which end up with the title of Question 1, 2, 3.,4,5,6…I think this is probably the best way I can find at the moment. If Canvas quizzes can provide a better solution for this type of questions, that would be great.

If I understand the question correctly, using the stimulus option in Quizzes.Next is a solution. The stimulus is present during all the questions and you can present just one question at a time or all that are tied to the same stimuli.
I had a similar situation but with short answer questions. In my situation, the "Fill In Multiple Blanks" worked nicely.
Thanks for the tips
I tried this and it works very well for subquestions indeed
However, the answer boxes are smaller than I would like them to be
I wonder if you managed to find a way to expand the size of the answer boxes?
Thanks in advance
