Is there a way to share a page across courses whereas if I would update it anywhere it would update everywhere?
Solved! Go to Solution.
ravmitterhoff, there are a couple of ways this could be done and each way has its own pros and cons.
* Canvas Commons - https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-11178-38287725286
* Blueprint Courses - Lessons Learned about Blueprint Courses: Introduction
* Embedded GoogleDoc - Google Docs for dynamic Canvas content
Based on my knowledge of the different options my thought is that Commons or the GoogleDoc route is going to be easiest and the best way to do what you are trying to do.
Hope this helps!

Commons doesn't update across courses, and blueprint shares the whole course. You cannot integrate two blueprints into one course, so if it is only one page, you want to share, the only option is to embed a page from somewhere else on the internet.

If I am interpreting the following Guide correctly, Commons actually can update a resource across multiple courses at one time:
How do I view updates to resources I previously im... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
Specifically, I am looking at the "Select Courses" and the "Update Resource" sections of the linked Guide.
Of course, I could be missing something and would happy to be wrong. But, I thought I'd share my interpretation with you.
But it is not an automatic update. The users of the page have to actively do something to get the page updated.

That's correct. You didn't specifically say "automatic" in your earlier reply, though. (Maybe that's where my misinterpretation came into play.) So, I provided Guides on how people can currently update their courses manually via Commons. IMHO, I could see arguments on both sides for wanting or not wanting it to happen automatically. If multiple sections of a courses were to have the exact same content, having an automatic update would be handy. But, if a school was more lenient and allowed for slight variations from course to course, one instructor might not want the new updates compared to another instructor. Maybe an "automatic update" option would be a good Feature Idea for Commons to implement? I tried searching for existing Feature Ideas about this topic, but I didn't find any that closely matched.
