Shared Module & Files with students

I run a project-based class and I would like to make students able to upload files to share will all the class, as well as share url. In other word, I would like they have access to a module they can edit anytime.  In the same vein, I would like to create shared files that all students can edit. Is it possible to do that?

I love these ideas. 

Some possibilities come to mind with this:

• students could share files in a discussion. To keep it well curated perhaps have discussions about certain topics so it's easier for people to find things.

• or you could open pages for the students to be able to edit also - when you are in 'edit' mode there is an option at the bottom of the page for students to edit. How do I edit a course page as a student? 
• shared files for students to edit could be done through Collaborations (I love these!)
