Speedgrader for individual discussion posts

Hello,

I cannot see individual students discussion responses in speedgrader. Instead, when I click the speedgrader option on a student's discussion response, I am taken to a screen that says I can view the full discussion to see the responses.

I've looked through other questions about this problem, but previous solutions don't work for me. I'm using a Google Chrome browser, I've restarted the browser, and I've confirmed that all of the students in this course are assigned to their respective groups. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We have seen this a few times and have had to open support tickets on it.  The last time we saw this here was the reply from Support:

"I understand that the Discussion post are not appearing in SpeedGrader. I looked at the Discussion settings and I see that the Discussion that you are looking at is showing the Group Discussion setting is enabled but no groups are listed and that is why it is not appearing in SpeedGrader. I tested it and I was able to create a discussion with the group setting and users in that group and it appeared in SpeedGrader. If you have any other questions or concerns please contact us."

i have this problem as well so if i dont enable "this is a group discussion" what happens?  will students still be able to see each others posts and respond?  and will i be able to still see individual student work?

When you select "This is a Group Discussion", you either need to select a Group Set (which you would have previously set up in your "People" page), or you need to create a new Group Set.  A Group Set could be named the same as the title of your discussion topic.  Within the Group Set, you would have different names of groups...such as Green Team, Blue Team, Red Team, Purple Team, etc.  You then put people into these teams.  (Think of this like having a discussion in a classroom setting where there are small groups around the classroom having separate conversations with each other.)

If you do not select "This is a Group Discussion", then everyone in your class will be able to see all responses from students.  Think of this as a large class discussion where you haven't divided students up into smaller groups.  Everyone can participate and hear (or in the case of Canvas, read) the thoughts of others.
