So I have created digital journals for my students to complete, and today was the first day of this and I have had the issue of the student accidentally deleting pages of the google slides. How can I help them get the slides back or reset the assignment for them so they have all the slides again? Thank you!
I'm going to assume that you set the google code to force a copy. They can simply click the undo button on the far left of the toolbar. It should reset the slides. If not, have them go back in and make another copy.
yes, I used to external tool to get each student their own copy. We tried the undo button but the student had already closed the assignment thinking that would help them get the slides back. When you say make another copy, do you mean create a new assignment just for that 1 student?
no, I mean have them go into the assignment you created and have them click to get another copy. An easy way to do it in future, (and how I do it) is to get a shareable link, and then in the link itself, change the word 'edit' to the word 'copy' and then attach that link to a direction word in the assignment. That way, when they click on the link, it forces a copy every time.
sorry, I'm not sure where the student sees the option to "click to get another copy" can you explain. thanks so much!
They should be able to go into the same assignment in canvas and use the same method to get another copy of the slides that they used to get their original copy
for example: Click the following link to make a copy of XYZ google slides assignment. Complete the slides and when finished, submit in Canvas using the Google drive tab.
I have used this link
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1OEblMq5MAuZgXbxk3PCO0SLIXMrY6DZ9OUhpRxqGjSo/edit?usp=sharing
and changed the word edit to the word copy. When you click on the word link in the above sentence, it automatically forces a copy.
