I have contacted the teacher to unenroll me and I have unchecked the star on the desktop but I still have this class on my app.
This is my 2nd attempt to reach out to canvas! Yes, I have deleted and reinstalled the app twice!
Please help:
Here is the instructor's email:
Here is the head of the dept email:
Hi Julie,
Your instructor for Paleography, Sister Patti Call, reached out to me to see what options are available to remove groups from the student app. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do at this time to remove them for past enrolments. I would recommend that you vote up this idea in the Canvas Community:

Hi, @possum7000 , thanks for providing this extensive documentation of your interactions with the course instructor. This is definitely concerning, because students whose enrollments have been removed from a course should no longer have group memberships associated with that course. Similarly, students whose courses have been concluded should no longer be seeing those group enrollments.
I have a few questions:
Thanks, Julie.
This is still an issue for the student. Her Canvas app still shows her group enrollments in a course she completed in Fall 2018. IT student support has advised her to contact me (the instructor) and have me unenroll her from the groups, but I don't have access to previous sections. What else can I suggest?

Okay, I heard back tonight from the Canvas specialist, who is just as baffled as I am about this problem. He tried a couple of things on his end, which didn't work, and now is waiting to hear back from the LMS expert. Apparently this is a first for everyone. No one has seen this before.I am taking it as a sign that you should come back and take the course again.
I hope to have some answers for you tomorrow. Again, sorry about this. I'm sure it is so annoying.Patti CallFrom: Call, Patti <callp@byui.edu>

Subject: Re: DB Enrollments for FHGEN 130I think there's also an issue with Canvas Inbox delivering messages after students are no longer enrolled in the course. I've seen this happen before, but I've never seen the permanent group enrollments issue before. I tagged Brad Barson and Corey Moore in my post today, and hope to hear from them by the end of the day. Someone, somewhere has got to know how to fix this. The only other thing I can think of--and you've probably already tried this--is to uninstall the app and try reinstalling it again. I tried accessing other sections to see if the locked feature is only in Fall 2018, but everything that has had final grades submitted is locked.I'm sorry--this has got to be so irritating. I will let you know what I learn today, and I'll send any communications to this email since Canvas Inbox isn't functioning, either. Hope you're having a good semester in spite of the IT issues! From: julie bird <possum7000@yahoo.com>

I have a few questions:
Thanks, Julie.
...and I wasn't sure if the ticket number #3758186 referenced in the conversations above is associated with a direct interaction with Canvas Support or if it was assigned by a local IT help desk at BYU. Please continue to follow up with the support agent on that ticket.
Stefanie:
Thank you for your reply!
1. Yes, this is only happening in the app. When I log into the browser I am only enrolled in this semesters classes. Also, I spoke with BYUI registration and they assured me I am NOT enrolled in that class!
2. I have cleared the cache on the app and then installed and reinstalled the app. The dashboard still looks the same with the 2018 class there.
3. BYUI has told me they can not help me any further! This is a CANVAS issue & that I would have to just deal with it.
4. 3758186 is the BYUI IT tech support reference number.
Julie
@possum7000 , thanks for confirming that. Please ask BYUI IT Tech Support to escalate the case to Canvas Support.
Hello! I'm also having issues. My daughter went to CG in 8th grade (she's a Senior this year) and I've been trying for YEARS to get her removed from groups with no luck. I still get daily emails from Canvas regarding Center Grove (& again, she hasn't gone there in 4 years), I cannot access her info/classes/assignments for her current school year at a different School corporation, and have had no luck getting any of the issues resolved in the past several years. I'm beyond frustrated!! if anyone has any ideas / suggestions on how to fix these issues, please reach out and let me know. Thank you in advance for any help and everyone please stay safe!!
