Why isn't the rubric score saved?

When I complete a rubric and hit Save, I still have to enter the total score at the top. Why isn't the score saved automatically?

You have to choose use the rubric for grading, then the grade will populate automatically.

After choosing the pencil to edit the rubric, click the Use this rubric for assignment grading.

I have this exact same question.  I went into the manage rubrics, clicked the edit pencil but I don't see those options at the bottom:

Am I trying to select "use this rubric for assessment grading" in the wrong spot?

From your picture, you need to finish updating the rubric (the button at the bottom.) Then you will be able to select use the pencil for the rubric and the options will be available.
