Word Count of Student Submission

On a short essay assignment, I asked students to write between 600 and 750 words. I tasked them with entering directly into the text box provided on Canvas.

Where can the word count of a student submission be seen?

Hi  @s_hyland .  As far as I know there is no word count option in SpeedGrader, thought the feature has been requested (see https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/3454-word-count-for-speedgrader-grading" modifiedtitle="true" ...).  If you feel that this request fits your need, I would suggest voting it up.  In the comments to this feature idea, the use of browser extensions came up.  An extension that counts words may be an option to look in to.

Hi, I am new to Canvas and saw this from 3 years ago about the lack of a word count in speedgrader.  I am wondering if this has been updated and if that is a possibility. Many assignments and discussions have length requirements and it seems counterproductive to have to copy every student's work into another app, program or extension to count the words.  It would be so much easier if Canvas showed this to students and instructors.   Has anything like this been added?  I have not seen anything current about it in forums.
