Canvas Admin Setup for Non-Higher Ed

Like perhaps many of you who don't work in higher ed--and particularly those of you in a non-profit or corporate environment--I'm trying to figure out best practices for setting up courses. I'm working in a non-profit that uses Canvas for programming we deliver to external audiences. We don't currently have other systems or norms that predefine course codes or SIS IDs. As for terms, different programs can have very different timing. Has anyone out there already worked through this? Any lessons learned or best practices to share?
