We are a K-12 school system that is using Canvas. We have administrators that are frustrated in their ability to monitor the success of teachers and students. Here are some of the specific concerns. Please let me know if you have any ideas to help them.

  • Grade views are by course, not by the student. So to check on the details of a particular student that may be struggling requires the administrator to look up the student then drill down with many clicks to get to the student's grades in a particular course. Then to see the next course they have to back out to the student and then drill down again with many clicks. This is very cumbersome and time-consuming. Is there a way to view student grade information more easily from an administrator (principal/vp) viewpoint?
  • When monitoring teachers it is important to not only look at the grade book, but also look at the types (groups) of the assignments and when they are assigned. This doesn't not seem to be easily viewable and requires a lot of clicks. The admins have found that they have to look at a student fiew in each section to see this information easily, but this results in many clicks and is easy to overlook information.

These items become very time consuming and takes a massive amount of time compared to the SIS grade book they were accustomed to using. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

There's a thread here about Dropout Detective. I do not have any experience with it, but it seems like it is in this ballpark.
