Hi Canvas Community!
We are newbies at customising our Canvas Catalog pages and hoping to get some advice/tips.
We've seen some catalog pages where there is something that looks like a listing, but it's actually pointing to a sub-catalog not a program or course.
As we are gearing up to have more content in Catalog, this sounds like it could be very useful. I'm trying to understand how we might be able to do that from a technical perspective.
Any tips related to how to highlight your different sub-catalogues or other ways to organise/share your content on the catalog front page would be very helpful!
Thank you 😃
-Kathy
I found these sites:
https://catalog.publicmedialearns.org/
https://ocps.catalog.instructure.com/
https://extensioncourses.usu.edu/
It might be worth contacting these institutions for how they customized their Catalogs. If you could share their contact information that would be greatly appreciated.
@KathyPalm Have you tried the new customization storefront features? https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Catalog-Releases/Catalog-Release-Notes-2024-10-21/ta-p/617...
Thanks Jessica. We've looked at this some but as we have already set up custom configuration it isn't in our best interest to switch over to that one at this time but I'm going to keep an eye on it in Beta if it will be a better change for us at one point. 😃
Since this thread is still open, I could perhaps add that we did eventually figure out how to customise a subcatalog page to point to other sub-catalogs with custom code. For us this makes more of a landing page to help organize our listings in a good way.
As Jessica mentioned, I think the new storefront theme editor (Catalog Release Notes (2024-10-21) - Instructure Community - 617481) will give you some basic no-coding options to design your page which is quite nice.
