It's been a looooong time since I've installed a fresh copy of Canvas from source. I stopped because I always seemed to run into a snag where the official production instructions didn't work due to dependencies that seem to have shifted since the instructions on the wiki get updated less often than the speed of library dependency changes occur. Since my institution has a cloud license and a separate spun up instance as a playground, I gave up doing this after my institution stopped letting me use a VM environment on my workstation. I've never played with the RCE and inserting videos without installing Kaltura even after I did succeed getting a fresh install of Canvas in a VM server. This question needs to be answered by someone who is an actual Canvas Developer, but I did find some information on the wiki for Kaltura: https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms/wiki/Canvas-Integration#kaltura
