[Admin Tools] Feature option request to delay scheduled maintenance

Problem statement:

Problem: There is currently no feature option to submit a request for a delay in scheduled maintenance. Example: Our institution follows an established standard, deemed a 'preemptive period', for making changes to application services at the beginning and ending of each semester. The rules for defining the preemption period: Semester Start = 12:01 AM, Saturday BEFORE the beginning of classes through 12:01 AM, Monday AFTER classes begin Semester End = 12:01 AM, Saturday BEFORE classes end through 12:01 AM, Wednesday AFTER the official graduation date (to accommodate grade processing) There are times when our scheduled Canvas maintenance window occurs during a preemptive period. The ability to pause and/or delay a scheduled maintenance would ensure no application changes occur during this critical preemptive period. Our most recent scheduled maintenance occurred the day before our final exams started and the Canvas email notification indicated it was a major database and OS upgrade with a potential for full outage during the maintenance window.

Solution: Create a procedure/process for institutions to request a delay in scheduled maintenance. Why: Having the ability to delay scheduled maintenance for a specific maintenance window would ensure that no application changes and no potential downtime would occur during our preemptive period.
