In the classic canvas experience, if the instructor does not have permission to change course name the only option for instructor and student is to individually change on the course card.
Allow instructor the option to apply a course friendly name, similar functionality exists in elementary experience. This would be beneficial for K-12 to apply a course name that is more recognizable that the name that comes from the SIS. It would also be beneficial for cross-listed courses so the students from a cross-listed section would see a more recognizable course name.
