[Courses] Missing column "Course code" in "All courses" view

Problem statement:

In the definition of a course one can specify a "Name" and a "Course code". These are shown in the Canvas webinterface in various ways: 1. On the dashboard - below the picture of the course first the name is shown and below that the course code. 2. In the list of courses that an admin can see - name column is shown, no column for the course code (but SIS-ID is shown). 3. In the main navigation menu clicking "Courses" - for each course in the popup both name and course code are displayed. 4. In the main navigation menu clicking "Courses" > "All courses" - name column is shown, no column for the course code (but nickname is shown). 5. When navigating within a course - browser tab will display the course name and to the right of the courses "hamburger menu" the course code is shown. For our teachers to differentiate between the many courses that they have access to we would like to give a "name" to a course that is easily understandable, like the generic name in our SIS. For more details like the eduction team related to the course, level of the course, status (development, template) etcetera we would like to fill the code with some codes and abbreviations. So a teacher giving English courses might have multiple course on his or her dashboard with the title "English" but can differentiate them using the codes below that: [T] AA-ENG [D] AA-ENG-L1 AL-ENG-L1 AL-ENG-L2 AM-ENG-L2 So on the dashboard (case 1) this will all be clear enough for our teachers. For case 2, this relates to admins, not teachers, in our institution the SIS-ID will make it clear for them. For case 3, both fields are shown, clear enough For case 4, (the list of all courses) only the names are shown so the teacher has little guidance as to exactly which course is which. If the teacher wants to mark a course as a favourite to add it to the dashboard he will have to open it first, check the details, return to the list remembering the position the course is in and then mark it as a favourite. For case 5, teachers do not always check the browser tab name but both fields are shown. So, "clear enough". What we have been doing up 'till now to alleviate this problem is to copy the codes to the end "Name" field, a bit like one of the workarounds I found recently: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Archived-Questions/ARCHIVED-Adding-a-Course-Code-column-to-the-Al... Alas, longer course names and codes will sometimes turn this into very long name fields and in places where both name and course code are shown the code is effectively shown twice. The other workaround, using nicknames can be a great help once a teacher has added a course to her or his dashboard but doesn't help with initial search for the correct course.

Proposed solution:

To be able to easily select the correct course from the "All courses" list. Could the "Course code" column be added?

I am quite sorry that after submitting this idea all the formatting of my idea was lost. Trying to post it formatted again:

Missing column "Course code" in "All courses" view

In the definition of a course you can specify a "Name" and a "Course code". These are shown in the Canvas webinterface in various ways:
1. On the dashboard - below the picture of the course first the name is shown and below that the course code.

3. In the main navigation menu clicking "Courses" - for each course in the popup both name and course code are displayed.

5. When navigating within a course - browser tab will display the course name and to the right of the courses "hamburger menu" the course code is
shown.

For our teachers to differentiate between the many courses that they have access to we would like to give a "name" to a course that is easily understandable, like the generic name in our SIS. So a teacher giving English courses might have multiple course on his or her dashboard with the title "English" but can differentiate them using the codes below that:

[T] AA-ENG
[D] AA-ENG-L1
AL-ENG-L1
AL-ENG-L2
AM-ENG-L2
So on the dashboard (case 1) this will all be clear enough for our teachers.
For case 2, this relates to admins, not teachers, in our institution the SIS-ID will make it clear for them.
For case 3, both fields are shown, clear enough.
For case 4, (the list of all courses) only the names are shown so the teacher has little guidance as to exactly which course is which.
