Currently, it's relatively easy to accidentally overwrite a previously posted grade in a gradebook assignment column. I've done this once or twice when updating a missing assignment grade by accidentally adjusting a grade in the row above or below the grade I'm trying to correct. This is 100% user error, but a fix for the absent-minded among us seems like an easy and welcome feature to consider.
A general grade lock feature for all assignment columns, not just assignments linked to external tools and integrations, would correct this flaw quite easily. Where the 3 dots are at the top of each column, a 'lock grade' option in the drop-down menu would be extremely helpful. Users could toggle the feature if they wanted to adjust a student's grade, and then lock the column again, as needed. This would solve the issue of an accidental overwrite in the wrong row, which could result in changing the wrong student's grade.
