As an instructor, when I receive a Canvas Notification in Gmail from a student using Canvas Inbox, I reply using Gmail and I sometimes need to add other recipients (not in the course) to the reply. When I do this: - the only communication ends up being in Gmail between myself and the people I added - the student does not receive the reply in their Canvas Inbox - I do not receive the reply in my own Canvas Inbox This impacts my ability to bring in other institutional experts to help me and the student coordinate things. For example, I use the campus testing center for my exams, and I require their help in rescheduling online exams whenever a student requires a re-take, or a schedule change due to their work schedule.
I need students to receive such replies in their Canvas Inbox because, from a student perspective, they initiated the message in the Canvas Inbox hence expect to find my replies there. I need students to have the ability to reply all in such cases (to me and the other people) so we can coordinate a solution together. I need such communications to be stored in mine and the student's Canvas Inbox so we have shared record of the agreements made with the additional recipients.
