You can't directly message other students on Canvas, like if you have them in the same class or section, you could message them, but teachers can direct message students privately, meaning you can only message teachers and not students.
A possible solution for this would be to unhide the direct messages so you can message other students, because that way you can look at past and previous messages in your inbox on Canvas. And people's inboxes on Canvas are always full (especially teachers) so one way would be to change the direct messaging system. (Sent mail.) Just a suggestion.
