The process for adding a Rubric to a discussion board is different for Graded Discussions vs. Assignments. Process 1 (Assignments): Create and Save Assignment > "+Rubric" Button. Process 2 (Discussions): Create and Save DB > More Menu (3 dots) > Select "Add Rubric" from dropdown > Click "Add rubric" button in pop-up window It should be noted also that Classic Quizzes uses process 2 while New Quizzes uses process 1. Neither of theses processes are particularly efficient or aesthetically pleasing. But the main problem is that there are 2 different processes, which increases the amount of time we spend training faculty, increases their frustration/confusion, and discourages adoption.
Standardize the "Add Rubric" process across all Canvas Items (Assignments, Quizzes, Discussion Boards). My preference would be to go with Process #1 because it is fewer clicks, but ideally a totally new, better process would be put in place, such as adding the rubric from the edit screen of each item.
