Show all outcome alignments in Mastery Grade Book

Currently, the drop-down menu in mastery grade book only shows the most recent 8 alignments instead of all alignments possible for that outcome. We would like it to show all possible alignments for each outcome because students are confused and think they have missing work when only some of the alignments are showing. It is also very difficult for the instructor to go back through each assignment to find the "hidden" alignments in order to see the entire picture of a student's progress on a given outcome.

Here is a picture to illustrate the problem:

Notice there are 11 alignments possible, but only eight appear on the drop-down screen.

This issue makes the mastery grade book less effective overall because it offers a limited view when it could be better.

Thanks!

Thank you for your submission,  @sgriffith . Can you tell me if the other 3 outcomes have any artifacts? In other words, are there assignments that have been aligned with the outcomes that are missing? Just trying to figure out...

  • If the 3 that are not showing are due to the fact that there are no assignments aligned with those outcomes
  • If those assignments are aligned with outcomes, but simply have not been graded, yet.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Hi Biray!

Yes, the other three outcomes do have artifacts and the assignments for those alignments have been graded.  Currently the three alignments that are not showing are the oldest out of the lot. We're not sure why it only shows 8, but I made sure to create a ticket with Canvas support first to see if this was a bug or just the way things were.  L1 support let me know that's just the way it is, so we thought "why not create a feature request!" Smiley Happy.  Thanks for your response and please let me know if there's anything else Becky or I can clarify!

I'd like to add a comment even though I realize it doesn't exactly align with the feature request.  That is that I wish there was a teacher path to view outcomes and their aligned assignments other than having to click into a student and try to figure it out that way.  It seems like a natural to place a link for this either in each outcome's header in the LM gradebook, or on the outcome page for that specific outcome.  The teacher needs a view to quickly see all assignments for a particular outcome.  I'd prefer the header on the LM gradebook, so the teacher doesn't have to click into the outcomes area and drill down to see the alignments.
