[Speedgrader] Add letter grades drop-down menu next to grade field in Speedgrader and a warning if grade is not permitted

Problem statement:

We have a suggestion regarding Speedgrader that would improve the teacher's experience in giving feedback to students when using letter grades. In Speedgrader, there is only an empty text field to enter the grade, with no indication of the scale of the letter scheme.

What is the problem? Well, the teacher may believe they are using a two-letter scheme, but in fact, there is a three-letter scheme. The second behavior that we would like to see copied from Gradebook to Speedgrader is the warning you get in Gradebook if you enter a grade that is not present in the chosen grading scheme. In Speedgrader, there is no warning or indication at all if you type in a letter grade that does not exist in the chosen scheme, other than Canvas refusing to accept the grade. However, there is no explanation as to why Speedgrader refuses to accept the grade.

Proposed solution:

We would like Speedgrader to have the same functions and behavior as Gradebook when it comes to letter grades. In Gradebook, you can use a drop-down menu to see the chosen letter scheme and pick a relevant grade from that menu. In the menu the full scheme is shown. With the same drop-down menu as in Gradebook, the problem that I described can be avoided.

The second behavior that we would like to see copied from Gradebook to Speedgrader is the warning you get in Gradebook if you enter a grade that is not present in the chosen grading scheme. In Gradebook, you receive a warning banner that informs the teacher that the entered grade is not valid. Regards Jörgen Ivarsson, System administrator and support, Umeå university
