[Student Grades] Parity between iOS and other Student Users for viewing grades

Problem statement:

Canvas uses the words 'Course Progress' for Windows/Android users and the word 'Grades for iOS users. iOS users can see their Course grade average but not Windows users. When a student cannot see their grade average using the school's Windows laptops. I advise them to use their iPad, iPhone, or Apple laptop if available.

Proposed solution:

It is important to be equitable.

  • Option #1: Limit 'customization' so that Windows users (who may not be able to afford notoriously more expensive Apple devices) have the same experience when viewing all things related to grades. For example, for browardinstructure change the name from 'Course Progress' back to 'Grades' for Windows/Android users - IOS users see the word 'Grades'.
  • Option #2: The Canvas Guides should also be updated to show the difference in functionality and terminology for those who see the words 'Course Progress' (Windows/Android users) and those who see the word 'Grades' (IOS users).
