Cannot see different classes of student submissions, all quizzes lumped together

  • Hello to all and thanks for any help anyone can provide.  As recently as the end of the 24/25 school year in June, when my students turned in an assignment I would use my Canvas iPhone app to look at student grades and record them into my gradebook on my laptop.

I teach 5 sections of the same class.  Previously I could go into the assignment on my iPhone and look at all of the grades by class.  I.e. I would open the assignment, use the filter to select Period 1, and then all of my period 1 students' grades would pop up on my phone in alpha order.  Again, this was as recently as June '25.

It is now Sept of '25 and when I try to do this on my iPhone I cannot find the filter to separate my classes.  All submitted assignments are listed in 1 master alpha list of 140+ students.  Needless to say when I tried to view grades on the phone and then record them in my gradebook, it took forever because instead of seeing only (for instance) the submissions from period 1, I'm seeing all of the submissions from all of my students in all 5 sections of the class.  The filter icon doesn't show sorting by class period as an option.

If I'm trying to enter period 1 grades, I have to sort through which names I'm seeing are in period 1 and mathematically, 4/5 names that I'm seeing aren't in that class.  It's taking so long that I'm about to go back to using Google Forms just so I can sort the grades by class period.  What used to take 5-10 minutes is now taking 40+ minutes.

I find it hard to believe that this really useful feature was dropped from whatever summertime update Canvas did for the iPhone.  Can anyone tell me if this feature is still there and if so where it is?

Thanks very much.

Mike
