Over the past two days or so, I have noticed a change to the Canvas Student app that has caused trouble to my classmates as well as to myself regarding the “to-do” feature. Now when I click on “to-do”, I see completed assignments and as I try to swipe them away to mark them as done, I am unable to. This new feature causes confusion and it’s extremely frustrating when it comes to me checking if I have completed a certain assignment just to see many more assignments still there. It completely throws off my organization and time management skills. Please troubleshoot this new issue to get us students back on track, thank you.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I saw this Known Issue posted here in the Community that you might want to take a look at:

Again, I'm not sure if this relates to the issue you posted above, but I wanted to share the link just in case.
FIXED!
An update to the Canvas student app on IOS was posted, the update patch notes contain the fact that the to-do list was reverted to original model. It is fixed for me, check the app store for the update! (app version 8.1.1 is the update, posted at 3am EST on 9/12/25)

Yes, it needs to be fixed! My list is so cluttered I can’t even tell what I actually need to do. 😞

This is a new behavior affect iOS apps. This behavior is specifically related to complete tasks (submissions have been received) and has only appeared in the past few days. The is occurring district wide for us with ever increasing reports and students update their app.
The Canvas app continues to display to-do tasks after submission criteria has been satisfied. Additionally, students are unable to dismiss or move the to-do tasks. This is occurring for all assigned classes and is thus becoming increasing more difficult to work around as more assignments are activated each week.
Still waiting, any update whether this issue is fixed?

As of today, uninstalling and then reinstalling the app seems to fix the issue.
