Apply Missing Automatically to Grades of Zero

I would really like for grades of zero to set an automatic status of "missing" because having to do this manually is time consuming. This is really more of a request than a question. "Late" is an automatic status which I really appreciate, but zeros are only marked "missing" if it is after the due date, not if i type a zero into the gradebook. Simple request that I think many of us would appreciate. In particular, if I set a default grade of zero, I would also like it to set a default status of "missing". It would also be super nice if once a grade other than zero is inputted that the "missing" status automatically resets to no status.

Hi @ArielOBrien, for requests to be considered by Instructure, you need to post it in the Ideas forum.

But why do you need to fill in the missing submission grades with a 0? Canvas allows you to leave the grade as missing, and have it automatically be filled in with a 0:  How do I apply a Missing Submission policy in the Gradebook

Students can have a grade of 0 even if the assignment isn't missing.
