Assignment said submitted, but file nowhere to be found

I had a final exam that was take-home and was supposed to be turned in to an assignment on canvas. When I finished the final, I submitted the assignment and went on with my day. The next day, I went to check it a grade had been put in yet and noticed that the assignment said missing. I checked everything to make sure that I didn’t misclick onto another assignment and that I didn’t cancel the assignment. The strangest thing about this is that both on my side and on the professor’s side, it said that my test was submitted to the right assignment, but neither of us was able to see a file or pdf of the final. Has this happened before?
