Assignment titles are too truncated in Gradebook

Has anyone else had the problem that Gradebook severely truncates the titles of each assignment, making it impossible to tell which assignment is which?

Like most instructors, I give my assignments names like "Homework 01" and "Homework 02," or "Participation 01-27" and "Participation 01-29." Gradebook abbreviates all these to "Homewor...", "Homewor..." or "Participation...", "Participation...", etc. This makes the titles in Gradebook essentially useless, because it becomes impossible to distinguish a given assignment from several or perhaps dozens of other assignments.

If it is not feasible to display the whole title, how about doing "middle-out" truncation in cases where the assignment title ends with a number? It would be much more useful to see "Homew...01," "Homew...02," "Homew...03" etc., rather than just seeing "Homewor...", "Homewor...", "Homewor...".

Great idea.

There are some workarounds that I use now:

1. I add the number in the beginning (f.e. T1: Homework)
2. I resize the columns of my gradebook (drag between them)
3. I order my gradebook in the same order as my modules (view -> arrange by module, first to last, view -> filters, modules)
