Canvas Email/Notifications

I thought I had a canvas email account, since I have a valencia.edu email? correct? Is Canvas just the site valencia uses for courses?

Welcome to the Canvas Community! 

Canvas is just a learning management system. Canvas is typically used for course content although it does have a built-in messaging system through the Inbox.

Your school email is most likely handled by another application and website that your school offers.
